Online Fast Track Degrees That Are Stupidly Cheap in 2024

If you have pretty much lost hope for a better career, don’t worry. After dropping out of college twice and making only $12 an hour, I didn’t see a way forward. But within nine months, I earned an online bachelor’s degree and changed my life. Now, I have a fantastic career, and things are so much better. Today, we will look at some of the best online fast track degrees that are also affordable and very rewarding.

In this blog, I’m going to share with you the fastest college majors, all of which you can complete in less than one year—if you do it the right way. And no, I’m not talking about spending 80 hours a week on it. You can do this part-time, in your free time.

Online Fast Track Degrees

In my experience, business degrees are the easiest to accelerate, and they can lead to good jobs. In fact, Business Management is the simplest major to speed up that’s still worth your time.

Here are some other business majors you can finish quickly:

  • Marketing or Advertising
  • Human Resources Management
  • Accounting – Some people earn an accounting degree in just three months!
  • Supply Chain Management – If you want to work in different countries, this is a great option.
  • Finance – Though it’s more challenging, finance majors can make an average of $124,000 a year. And yes, it can be completed in a few months instead of years.

Let’s say a lot about online education degrees you can accelerate…

If you dream of becoming a teacher or professor, there are a number of education-related degrees that can be fast-tracked.

For working with younger children, you might consider:

  • Elementary Education
  • Special Education

These majors can both be completed quickly. If you prefer teaching older students, you can fast-track degrees in core subjects like:

  • Science
  • English
  • Math
  • Physics

For those interested in leadership roles, such as becoming a principal or managing curriculum, there are leadership-based master’s degrees in education that can also be accelerated.

However, I would caution you against degrees like Educational Studies, which are too broad and don’t focus on one subject. These often lead to low-paying jobs after graduation.

Healthcare Degrees

This online degree is in High Demand as we speak. The healthcare industry is one that keeps growing, and there are several healthcare degrees that can be earned in less than a year. These degrees are in high demand and can lead to stable careers.

Consider the following majors:

  • Healthcare Administration – This major prepares you for leadership or administrative roles in hospitals and healthcare clinics.
  • Nursing – While the RN (Registered Nurse) path can be hard to fast-track due to clinical work, you can accelerate the BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) and MSN (Master of Science in Nursing).
  • Health Information Management – If you’re good with computers and want to work in healthcare, this could be the major for you.
  • Public Health, Health Studies, and Early Childhood Studies – These are also options that can be completed quickly.

If you don’t want to go the RN route because of the clinical work, consider earning a different major and then attending an ABSN (Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing) program. This allows you to transition from any major into nursing within a year.

Technology Degrees Online

This online degree is both lucrative and quick.

Technology is a booming industry, and the following degrees can be fast-tracked in less than a year:

  • Computer Science – This is one of my favourite majors to accelerate. It’s like being a digital engineer, creating and developing new things. There’s a lot of math and science involved, so it’s more challenging, but still doable in under a year.
  • Information Technology Management – This major focuses more on managing a company’s technology, making it easier and placing you in management positions.
  • Software Development, Network Engineering, Software Engineering, and Cloud Computing – If you’re interested in creating and building things, these are great options that can also be accelerated.

Majors to Watch Out For

Not all majors are worth accelerating. Here are a couple that you should be careful about:

  • Project Management – While you can fast-track this major, it’s best if you work in the tech space. Project managers in technology earn much more than those in other industries. If you pursue project management outside of tech, you might end up with a salary of $50,000 to $70,000 a year, which you could earn without a degree.
  • Liberal Arts or Arts-Based Majors – These majors often don’t lead to high-paying jobs. On average, someone with a liberal arts degree earns between $50,000 and $60,000 a year, and you don’t need a degree to get jobs at that level.

What About Your Major?

If I haven’t mentioned your major, don’t worry—you can still accelerate it. However, you might need to take a different approach. For majors like Engineering, Law, or Medicine, you could fast-track a bachelor’s degree and then transfer into a master’s or bridge program to get into your chosen field.
